The Boatmen Baths Tavern was a tavern situated within the ruins of a former Roman bathhouse in Paris. In addition to being a tavern, the ruins also housed a secret underground brothel which was popular among the Frankish population, including King Charles the Fat.[1]
In 886, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan visited the tavern in search of whereabouts of the Bishop Engelwin. There, she met the tavernkeeper who directed her to a drunken man whose daughter was frequently harassed by Engelwin's soldiers. In addition, Eivor also recovered a note given Engelwin's soldiers to hunt down his former scribe who betrayed him.[2]
