Björn Ironside was a Norse Viking chief and a legendary king of Sweden who would go on to found the House of Munsö.
Born to Ragnar Lothbrok and his third wife Aslaug Sigurdsdottir, Björn was the brother of Ivarr the Boneless, Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye, and Ubba, as well as the half-brother of Halfdan.[1]
Biography
Avenging Ragnar
When his father, Ragnar Lothbrok was killed by King Ælla of Northumbria,[2] Björn and his brothers Halfdan, Ivarr the Boneless, Ubba, and Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye plotted their revenge.[3]
Legacy
In 876, Halfdan briefly mentioned Björn in passing to Eivor Varinsdottir as he reflected on his lost brothers.[3]
