Ruddock , later known as Gerald Mowles, was an English Assassin alive during the turn of the 19th Century. He was excommunicated from the Brotherhood after bringing the Order into disrepute.
Biography
In 1776, Ruddock attempted to murder Julie de la Serre, wife of the François de la Serre, the Grand Master of the Parisian Rite of the Templar Order, and planned an ambush with an accomplice. Dressed as a doctor, he cornered Julie and her daughter, Élise, in an alleyway in Paris as his accomplice doused the flames of the lanterns. Ruddock was unaware of Julie's skills in combat; their target managed to wound Ruddock and kill his associate with a footblade. Scared for his life, he took off running, leaving behind his doctor bag, which was later used by Freddie Weatherall and Élise used to track him down.
Élise managed to find him in January 1789, in a tiny village outside of Rouen, and was sentenced to be hanged by the villagers. Ruddock had taken the name of Gerald Mowles and tried to swindle an old lady but was caught before he could escape. Élise cut his ropes before he died convulsing and threatened him for answers. Although Ruddock did not know who hired him to assassinate Julie, Élise made a treaty with Ruddock as long as he found the man within six months.
Personality and traits
Ruddock was an avid, although not very fortunate, gambler. He soon found himself buried in debt. He regularly attempted to return to the Assassin Order, but always failed in his attempts. To clear his debts, Ruddock later offered his services to the highest bidder as a sword for hire.
