The developers have already confirmed that you aren't playing as a hidden character, you are indeed just playing as yourself, (as a research anylasist, excuse me if i misspelled). Sorry i can't give a source it has been awhile since i read this and i dont recall exactly who it was that said it, but i assure you that you aren't playing as a hidden character. At least, not in Black Flag
