Like in Revelations they said that Ezio would understand Manuel Palaiologoses motives and hesitate to kill him/question his own motives (or something along those lines anyway) but in the game, nothing of it, you can see Manuel Palaiologoses motives but Ezio sure dosen't. That's how they lied about revelations and it seems to me what there doing with ACIII by saying that Connor is not on any particular side but just fights for freedom/his tribe yet in the final game hey might be with the Americans for it all.
