I think one of the good things about the new stuff might be the sudden lack of factions in the game. That's a GOOD thing in my opinion. Because as time went on in Ezio's journey, I had so many damn tools at my disposal (Poison, thieves, mercs, throwing knives, bombs, etc) that I never actually got around to using. I literally had too much at my disposal.
I am definitely curious to see what the Guild is going to be reincarnated as though.
