:Papal names are adopted names; their names are legally changed upon their accession, much like a monarch's usually is. From that moment forth they are known only as their chosen name. - Papal names are adopted names; their names are legally changed upon their accession, much like a monarch's usually is. From that moment forth they are known only as their chosen name.
