Vertumnus

Vertumnus is a painting by Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Produced around 1590 to 1591, it is a surreal portrait of the Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II. In the portrait, Rudolf consists of fruits, vegetables and flowers, including what appears to be a Paris japonica.

By the early 18th century, the painting had become part of Peter Beckford's collection. It was later recovered by the pirate Edward Kenway.
