The Tomb of the Suitors is a Mycenaean tomb located in the Pronnoi Peninsula of Kephallonia. It housed the bones of 72 people and contained various valuable offerings which were believed to have belonged to ancient Ithakan nobility.
Around 431 BCE, the tomb was visited and explored by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Though the name of the tomb is fiction, it is based on a real-life tomb, called "Mycenean Tholos Tomb", near modern day Poros.
