Thomas Burke (c. 1747 – 2 December 1783) was the Irish-born Governor of North Carolina during the American Revolutionary War.
In 1781, he was captured by the British colonels Hector McNeill and David Fanning. The Colonial Assassins launched a rescue attempt known as the Battle of Lindley's Mill and assassinated McNeill, but failed to retrieve Burke.[1]
