Archer was a draughtsman working for Matthew Hague during the early 18th century. He would follow Hague wherever he went, writing down his employer's philosophical musings.
In 1723, the Assassin Edward Kenway planned to assassinate Hague. Boarding Hague's ship, the Charlotte, Edward entered the captain's cabin and offered Archer a chance to escape before the ship was burned. Archer accepted immediately and ran away, shocking his employer.
