The building itself appears to be in Italy, known to be south of Monteriggioni, as evidenced by signs written in Italian, and the architecture outside. The loft area of the Hideout contains three doors that cannot be opened throughout the whole game, one of which is a reinforced metal door. Given that there is only one bed visible in the rest of the building, it is likely that at least one of the hidden rooms is for accommodation. Various equipment in the Hideout is branded with the Abstergo logo, perhaps indicating that it was stolen.

*It is suspected that the Hideout and Abstergo Laboratory is in Italy, considering that the outside of the hideout looks exactly like Florence in Ezio’s time, and that the parking lot in Abstergo and the Assassin’s hideout have signs that have words in Italian, including "sezione", which means "section" in English. In Abstergo’s garage there are signs in Italian saying "Parcheggio riservato" meaning "Reserved parking" and "Altezza totale" meaning "Altitude". This glitch has been fixed in an update.

The Rome hideout

The Rome hideout was one of the many Assassin safehouses around the world,[1] and it served as the base for a cell of Assassins consisting of Lucy Stillman, Shaun Hastings, Rebecca Crane and Desmond Miles in 2012.

The building itself was located in Rome within the Tor Tre Teste industrial area[1] and divided into two sections, the warehouse and the loft. The loft further branched out from the main room into three other rooms, one of which was locked with a reinforced metal door.[2]

History[edit | edit source]

At some point before Lucy and Desmond's arrival at the hideout, Rebecca and Shaun had already set everything up and were patiently waiting for them. On September 9, Desmond and Lucy arrived, and Lucy explained to Desmond that they would train him to become an Assassin by following in Ezio Auditore's footsteps through the Animus. By reliving Ezio's experiences during the Renaissance, Desmond would gain years of experience in just a matter of days.[2]

On September 15, while reliving Ezio's encounter with Rodrigo Borgia before accessing the Vatican Vault, Desmond saw the Isu scientist Minerva. Speaking directly to him through Ezio, she warned Desmond that the Great Catastrophe from millennia past would soon recur and gave him instructions on what to do to prevent this.[2]

Desmond and Lucy confronted by Vidic and his guards

Soon after, an Abstergo Industries strike team led by Warren Vidic tracked down Desmond and his companions and raided the hideout. Lucy armed Desmond with a Hidden Blade so they could fight back, while Shaun and Rebecca quickly prepared for their escape. During the confrontation, Vidic reminded Lucy of all the lives she had helped him destroy, claiming that she had blood on her hands just like him. Enraged, Lucy and Desmond launched their attack.[2]

After defeating the Abstergo guards, Vidic swore to Desmond that their conflict was far from over before making his escape. The Assassins quickly fled in their getaway vehicle, trying to make sense of Minerva's warning before making their next move.[2]

Unbeknownst to the team, Lucy had secretly left a recorded copy of Desmond's Animus sessions at the abandoned hideout, which Vidic later retrieved.[3]

Rooms[edit | edit source]

Main room[edit | edit source]

The main room contained most of the team's equipment, including the Animus 2.0 and the desks for each of the Assassins. A small allocated area also contained a couch and a double bed. Lucy was usually sitting at her desk, working on her computer. Her role was to keep track of the Assassin parties outside of the hideout, who were actively fighting the Templars.[2]

The hideout's main room

Shaun acted as the team's researcher and sat at a desk next to a bookshelf and cork boards covered with pictures and maps. There, he wrote entries for the Animus database and provided tactical support for the other Assassin teams out in the field.[2]

Rebecca worked next to the Animus and kept record of its performance, as well as maintaining its mechanisms. She also occasionally added notes to the database, such as to remind Desmond that a hidden Glyph could be found near to a certain location.[2]

Warehouse[edit | edit source]

The ground floor of the building contained a large warehouse with stacks of crates, shelves, and a small garage. Desmond practiced his freerunning skills there, climbing across the boxes and rafters of the warehouse. The area also contained the building's security systems.[2]

 • The interior design of the main area in the hideout is similar to that of the Ubisoft Montreal office. It is not known if this similarity is intentional.
 • A glitch could occur if Assassin's Creed II was turned off after completing DNA Sequence 11, when Desmond exited from the Animus. During this time, Desmond would be in the warehouse section of the hideout, but Lucy, Rebecca, and Shaun would be absent, and the Animus could not be entered. There would also be a missing wall down in the warehouse section that he could jump through, but it only led to a pool of water with no way back up and nowhere to go. This glitch was fixed in a later update.
