Aoife was an Irish blacksmith who lived in Dublin during the 9th century.
In 879, Aoife was requested by King Bárid mac Ímair to make a Norse Gael Bow for his cousin arriving from England, the Viking jarlskona Eivor Varinsdottir. After Eivor arrived with Bárid, Aoife handed over the bow, suggesting that she give it a try by shooting the nearby targets for practice.[1]
