Pierre Cauchon (1371 – 18 December 1442) was the Bishop of Beauvais from 1420 to 1432.
He was a member of the Templar Order and one of the men responsible for the execution of Jeanne d'Arc, though Jeanne had in fact been replaced with the maid Fleur by the Assassins.[1]
His sights set on becoming the Archbishop of Rouen he and Jean d'Estivet against the wishes of Philip III of Burgundy sought to have Joan killed in her trial. Cauchon ordered his guards to take all female clothing from Joan's cell and replace it with male, resulting in Joan being seen as unchanged and ensuring her burning at the stake.
Years later he suffered a heart attack right before Gabriel Laxart was about to kill him for his role in Joan's death
