Otranto is a city and commune in southern Italy.

History[edit | edit source]

On 25 September 1321, Domenico Auditore and his family arrived in the Otranto harbor, where they waited for a storm to pass before they resumed their voyage to Spain. However, that night, they were ambushed by pirates hired by the Templars to retrieve Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's Codex. Domenico scattered the Codex pages, placing them in several chests to keep them out of the pirates' hands, after which he and his son managed to escape. His wife, however, was raped and murdered by the pirates.[1][2]
