Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici (1667 – 1743) was the last member of the Grand Ducal branch of the House of Medici. Although her elderly father and childless brother tried to secure her succession to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany upon their own deaths, she was barred due to her gender, and so Tuscany was inherited by the Habsburgs upon the death of her brother Gian Gastone in 1737. She did, however, inherit the Uffizi, the Palazzo Pitti, and other Medicean villas and possessions including their vast art collection. She bequeathed these to the Grand Duchy upon her own death in 1743.
