The entrance of the Mushroom Cave

The Mushroom Cave was a cave in Ancient Pearl on the island Lesbos, Greece. Situated on the border between Ancient Pearl and Lover's Bay, it was home to bears.

During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra was tasked by a Mytilenian scholar to fetch some of the bear dung mushrooms, which were abundant within the cave, giving it its name.[1]
