Margaret of Valois (1553 – 1615) was Queen of France and Navarre through her marriage to Henry IV. She was the daughter of Catherine de' Medici and Henry II.

Following the annulment of her marriage to Henry IV, Margaret stayed in the Hôtel de Sens in Paris.[1] During her stay there, she witnessed one of her lover's throat slit by a jealous suitor in front of the mansion's gate.[2]
