Ludovico Maria Sforza (also known as Ludovico il Moro; 27 July 1452 – 27 May 1508) was Duke of Milan from 1494 to 1499.
Ludovico was born to Duke Francesco I Sforza, who was succeeded by the former's brother, Galeazzo Maria Sforza. In 1486, Ludovico offered the polymath Leonardo da Vinci to work for him on various projects, an offer eagerly accepted by the latter. After a brief return to Venice in 1488, Leonardo resumed his work for Ludovico, pleased with his patronage.[1] Louis XII of France drove Ludovico out of Milan in 1499, holding a claim to the Duchy through his lineage.[2]
In 2012, he was included in a mnemonic set in Abstergo Industries' Project Legacy.[3]
