The Kingdom is the landscape that connects Acre, Jerusalem, Damascus and Arsuf plains. The Kingdom is also currently the open battlefield of the war. Saracens and Crusaders constantly battle furiously in these lands. The political situation surrounding the Third Crusade can be considered somewhat complex. Towards the western region you quickly notice that it is actively militarized by the Lionheart Crusaders. The eastern region falls under the jurisdiction of the Saracen army. Due to religious obligation and politics intertwined with religion, this has possibly lead to the current state of warring. King Richard recently reclaimed Acre, and prepares his army for a massive march south towards Jerusalem in an overall attempt to claim it in the name of the church. Due to the large scale of the war effort, along with the existence of assassins within the Holy Land. Both sides have fortified their territories, so one should prepare for such things as informed guard patrols, alert guard posts, as well as guard towers housing archers keenly aware of the enviornment. Apart from the military situation, the Kingdom is very beautiful. Throughout the land you find many locales and routes to visit or explore during your journey. Open markets and small villages populate the region as travelers journey to and from the different cities. Upon reaching the outskirts of every city mainly Damas, and Acre do not forget of the heavy military encampments located at the doorstep. Knowledge of the second tenet of the "Assassins Creed" in most cases should safely see you through your journey through this extremely dangerous region.

The Kingdom was a virtual location rendered by the Animus, representing areas of the Levantine countryside visited by the Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad during the 12th century. It connected the cities of Masyaf, Acre, Jerusalem, and Damascus, as well as the battlefield of Arsuf, all of which Altaïr traveled to during his quest to eliminate the nine leaders of the Levantine Templars.[1]

The Kingdom was made up largely of open plains and mountains, and contained numerous small villages and encampments. Twelve notable watchtowers were scattered across the landscape.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

During the Third Crusade, the Kingdom was a contested territory between the Crusader forces, based in Acre, and the Saracen garrisons at Damascus and Jerusalem. The western part of the Kingdom was actively militarized by King Richard I of England, while the eastern part fell under the control of Saladin and the Saracen army. Both sides had fortified their positions, and actively patrolled the area.[1]

During this time, both the Assassins and the Knights Templar had a notable presence in the Kingdom as well. Assassin guards were stationed throughout the mountain pass leading to Masyaf, while a number of Templar knights were posted throughout the Kingdom's landscape.[1]
