What if this was all a construction? A masterfully crafted simulation?
This article references the Assassin's Creed series in a real-world context, is written in the present tense, or is partly written in terms of gameplay. To maintain clear perspectives, revise the relevant section(s) so that out-of-universe content is in a "Behind the scenes" and the body adopts an in-universe past tense.

The design of this weapon would later inspire the invention of the bayonet.

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Contrary to the weapon description provided in the 2014 video game Assassin's Creed: Unity, early versions of the bayonet had already existed by the time of French Revolution, appearing as early as the 17th century in Europe and China. Furthermore, in both the 2012 game Assassin's Creed III, which is set over a decade prior to Unity in the American Revolution, and its 2013 sequel Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag set even earlier in the Golden Age of Piracy, bayonets are common attachments already seen on muskets wielded by soldiers in the British, Continental, and Spanish armies.
