The Helmschmied Drachen Armor

The Helmschmied Drachen Armor was a rare set of heavy armor crafted by the Helmschmied Armory in 1489. One such set was worn by the Italian Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze during his time in Rome. Another one was worn by Ezio's fellow Italian Assassin, Girolamo da Lucca.

The robes Ezio wore under the armor appeared similar to those of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, though they possessed a leather texture, rather than cloth. On the waist, the Assassin insignia was flanked by rows of throwing knife sheaths.

Across the torso, the armor was made up of stylized metal plates. The upper right armguard extended higher than the shoulder, though the left one was set lower to make room for a cape. The matching bracers of the armor were worn in conjunction with leather gloves on each hand.

Trivia

• The Helmschmieds of Augsburg were one of late medieval Europe's foremost families of armorers. Their name translates to 'helmet smith' in German, while drachen means 'dragon'.
• Concept art showed that the robes with the Helmschmied Armor were intended to be white; however, in-game, the robes were primarily black.
• The Helmschmied Armor appeared as a purchasable item in Assassin's Creed: Project Legacy, where its description stated that it was "the finest in foreign engineering" and had a price of 200,000 florins.
• As with other cosmetic outfits in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, the Helmschmied Armor overrode Ezio's outfit and appearance at certain moments; such as when Ezio was supposed to be disguised as a guard, when he was at the Caserma di Alviano fight club, or during repressed Cristina memories, though it did not affect gameplay itself.
• In Assassin's Creed: Rebellion, Girolamo da Lucca wears a set of Helmschmied Drachen Armor. He also wields a personal weapon, the Drachen Sword, that was made with the help of an ancient tablet.
