Alfred Ernest Albert (1844 – 1900) was Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1893 to 1900. He was the second son and fourth child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.[1]
Biography[edit | edit source]
On 22 May 1867, Queen Victoria wrote to Alfred's older brother Edward informing him that she would not be naming Alfred as Constable of the Round to Tower, due to his not living in England and not requiring the title's annual income, and so decided to give the post instead to the brothers' half-cousin, Prince Victor.[2]
