The Golden Axe was a type of battleaxe made and used in the 5th century BCE Greece. Named for its brilliant golden finish, these axes were purified and blessed by priests, and dedicated to be the tools through which the gods themselves worked.
During the Peloponnesian War, the Spartan misthios Kassandra found this weapon in the inventories of blacksmiths and looted it from bodies and chests during her travels throughout Greece.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The Golden Axe, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, shares the same model as a number of other similar weapons in the same game, including the equipped Arkalochori Axe. These are all the recycled model of the Sahalin Axe, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Origins, which itself is modelled after the Sahalin from For Honor, a game developed by Ubisoft Montreal. It also bears similarities to the Sepulcher Axe, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.
