Gien is a commune of Loiret in north-central France, near the city of Orléans.
In September 1429, Jeanne d'Arc was taken to Gien to recover after being shot with a crossbow bolt. There, during a dinner with King Charles VII, where Gabriel Laxart, John II of Alençon, and Georges de la Trémoille were also present, they learned of the dissolution of the army.[1]
