"Saloninus is useless! His father, Gallienus, is a coward! And his grandfather, Valerian, is a shadow of his former self!"
Caïus Fulvus Vultur's opinion of the Licinii Emperors[src]

Gallienus (Latin: Publius Licinius Egnatius Gallienus Augustus; c. 218 – 268), also known as Gallien, was Roman Emperor with his father Valerian from 22 October 253 to spring 260 and alone from spring 260 to September 268.

By 259, Gallienus shared power with his father, Valerian, and son, Saloninus, and the three ruled over the Roman Empire. Senator Caïus Fulvus Vultur had a low opinion of the Emperors and specifically remarked that he considered Gallienus to have been a coward.[1]
