Edward Oxford (1822 – 1900) was an English painter who was behind an assassination attempt on Queen Victoria. In 1840, while Victoria's carriage was passing through Green Park, Edward fired his pistol twice on the carriage, but missed. He was subsequently subdued by the nearby onlookers.[1]
