The Sancaktar Mosque was one part of a larger monastery complex, now demolished. Today it is known as a "Mescidi", a small mosque. I'm not sure when it was built but the style appears to be late Byzantine—perhaps something from the fourteenth century, the height of the Palaiologian dynasty. A very simple structure made out of rough brick and simple shapes, it doesn't always appear on many must-see lists. But there is a humble elegance to its construction that is worth seeing.
