Biography[edit | edit source]

In an April 1865 letter from Queen Victoria to her Belgian uncle Leopold I, she mentioned how both she and her friend Madeline, Countess Blücher hoped to set up the queen's third daughter Helena with Prince Christian.[1] They married that September,[2] and by May 1867 had moved to Frogmore, England with his new wife. On 22 May, in a letter penned to her son Edward VII, Victoria noted her intention to make Christian a Ranger of Windsor Great Park as a pleasant occupation and as assistance to General Francis Seymour.[3]
