Eivor exploring the bureau

The Camulodunum bureau was a bureau of the Roman branch of the Hidden Ones in Camulodunum, a Roman town which became the city of Colchester in Essex, England.

History[edit | edit source]

The bureau was established at some point prior to 90 CE, when a contract was issued for the assassination of Governor Verus, undertaken successfully by Acolytus Anicius.[1]

Around 383, following Magnus Maximus' orders to withdraw all Roman troops from the north, Magister Marcellus closed the Ebocarum and Venta Belgarum bureaus. Several Hidden Ones stationed at those bases were subsequently redirected to the Camulodunum bureau, while others travelled to the Londinium bureau. Around 423, Magister Vitus ordered the evacuation of all Hidden Ones from Britannia, directing them to the local bureau in Cologne, Germania.[1]

In the late 9th century, the bureau's ruins were discovered by the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir, who had been tasked with uncovering the abandoned bureaus of England by Hytham. Eivor explored the bureau and recovered a page from The Magas Codex and the hood of a Hidden One.[1]
