I think it has too do with the fact that making fun of lets say Christianity gets punished more severely.

Let us be honest, make fun of Christianity and you got Churches all after you. That is mostly because in the West, Christianity is the big religion, so making fun of it is harder, I guess. While Arabs are like...half way across the world, much easier too make fun of somebody far away. Not saying all Christians are like that, not at all, just saying that it is harder because you are in a place with a lot of them.
