Who exactly is Desmond Miles? He's the main protagonist to the series but there's still so much we don't know about him. What exactly makes him special though? The connection to Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad and Ezio Auditore da Firenze whom lead him to where he is in Assassin's Creed 3. But let's start from the beginning...

Desmond escaped an anonymous place referred to as The Farm when he was younger; the Farm was an Assassin operated stronghold which was off the grid. One he left, his journey took him to New York City where he became a bartender. During September of 2012, a highly-funded Templar company by the name of Abstergo Industries had kidnapped Desmond. This had started his journey to becoming true Assassin and realizing that the people at the farm, family and friends, had been trying to help him and were not crazy in the least.

He awoke to the memory of his ancestor, Altair Ibn-La'Ahad, whose memory was de-stabilizing quickly. He finally exited the trance and discovered two new faces; Warren Vidic and Lucy Stillman. He was forced to remain in a machine called the Animus; though this model was referred to as the 1.28 model. Desmond continued to learn about his ancestor Altair and the Assassins, gradually leaving and heading to sleep after talking with Lucy. He soon found out that Lucy is apart of the Assassin Order like he was meant to be. Desmond relived the last sequence of Altair's memory which would soon lead to an object referred as the Piece of Eden. An ability had been unlocked once the people at Abstergo Industries had left the area, Desmond discovered he had unlocked a secret talent referred to as Eagle Vision. Eagle Vision is a new sense which would allow whomever possesses it to depict friend, foe, civilian and target.

Returning to Abstergo, Lucy discovered Desmond staring blankly at a wall but what was truly in his sight was the symbols drawn with blood belonging to Subject 16. Escaping Abstergo and making his way to a new hideout, he had met up with a new team of Assassins; Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane. But time was short and Desmond needed the training required to take down the tyranny of the Templar order and so, he fitted decades of training into the span of a few days while reliving Ezio Auditore's life. The long-range of time started to affect Desmond, suffering from an Animus-caused condition known as the Bleeding Effect (Something of which will be explained later throughout the blog).
