Raymond is an American priest serving as prison chaplain for the Huntsville penitentiary in Texas, United States. Before finding his true calling, Father Raymond was an English professor at a university on the West Coast.[1]
In October 2016, Father Raymond came to Callum Lynch, a murderer soon to be executed, to hear his last words. The priest tried to give comfort to Lynch, but was unsettled by the man's calmness. After reading the Bible and understanding that Lynch was not interested in religion, Raymond asked him what he would like to hear at the hour of his death.[1]
Lynch then told priest about a poem that his mother used to read him, "After Apple-Picking" by Robert Frost, which Raymond recalled from his time as a professor and recited to Lynch until the prison guards came to take him to the execution chamber.[2]
