Cyrus was a former Roman soldier-turned-slaver and a member of the Anglo-Saxon sect of the Order of the Ancients.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Slaver in Rome[edit | edit source]

Before his tenure in England, Cyrus worked as a Roman soldier and soon came under the influence of the Order of the Ancients. Afterwards, Cyrus worked as a slaver for the Order and kidnapped various women, including the future Hidden One Marcella, who eventually escaped his captivity.[1]

Accounts of Cyrus proved disturbing as he was extremely misogynistic, deeply malicious, and committed extreme acts of sadism towards the women who became his victims. Following Marcella's escape, Cyrus began hunting her down, which made Marcella have to hide in response.[1]

Activities in England[edit | edit source]

Around 878, Cyrus began to kidnap women of all kind, Christian and pagans alike, for a nunnery under the Order's control. This nunnery was actually a secluded prison camp where the women were treated as slaves and subtly brainwashed into accepting their fate.[2]

Cyrus also oversaw a keep besides the Tamesis River. There, he maintained correspondence between the Order and the Descendants of the Round Table, as the two groups were working together to find Excalibur. Outside the keep, Cyrus left his soldiers alone with his captive, Ebba, for the Order's "nunnery." However, trouble ensued within the keep as Cyrus noticed a pair of unknown horses waiting outside.[3]

As his keep was set on fire, Cyrus waited by the horses and soon encountered one of the intruders, Niamh of Argyll. Realizing that Niamh had taken Ebba, Cyrus taunted Niamh, suggesting that she could become Ebba's "replacement" due to the latter no longer being viable. The Ancient then engaged Niamh in a fight and began to tire her out. However, Cyrus was soon put on the defensive and was forced to back up towards the horses. After more strikes, Cyrus backed up one final time as Niamh's horse, Mathan, back-kicked him into unconsciousness.[3]

With Cyrus at her mercy, Niamh contemplated ending his life but hesitated. The unconscious Cyrus was subsequently dragged, stripped, and tied up besides a tree. Bleeding from his head, he was left for dead as his enemies fled the scene.[3] Unfortunately, Cyrus survived his injuries and later came to oversee the nunnery with all of his captives. Bandaged, the Ancient noticed a soldier and realized it was Niamh in disguise. Cyrus quickly ordered his men to attack her, but they failed to kill her as Niamh escaped with the captives' help.[4] Niamh later informed her allies, the Hidden Ones Hytham and Marcella, of Cyrus' survival and activities, leading to the Ancient being marked as a future assassination target.[5]
