Castillo de la Real Fuerza

The Castillo de la Real Fuerza is a Spanish fort in Havana, Cuba.

Built in 1577, the Castillo replaced a much older fort, then inadequate fort, in protecting Havana's harbor. Eventually, the Castillo too proved to be inadequate, and was converted into an official residence.[1]
