AC irrelevant question[edit source]
How can i change my display name "As Author"? I recently edited in one of the topics in the HelpDesk but instead of displaying my username, it displays an IP address?
Many Thanks
Hey mate check out my Q, its been bothering me!
- Hi, you can't change the attribution after you edit I'm afraid... you just need to make sure you are logged in when editing! Sorry -- sannse<staff /> (talk) 20:31, December 27, 2009 (UTC)
Appennine Mountains[edit source]
On the "Appennine Mountains" page, the name "Appennine" is spelled wrong, it's actually "Apennine".
- Hi, all you need to do to fix that is move the page :) the move link is above the article -- sannse<staff /> (talk) 15:45, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
Edit page for the Image uploads[edit source]
Hi sannse. We've recently brought into force a new Assassin's Creed Wiki:Image policy that requires all images on the site to be properly sourced and whatnot. In order to help this along, I brought the Information template over from the Star Wars Fanon Wiki. I then noticed that SWF have edited their image upload page so that it includes the template already. Would you be able to provide a link to the page necessary so that we can alter our image upload page in a similar fashion? Thank you. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 13:50, July 12, 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, I think you want this one. But that page is rarely seen now, other than by users on Monobook skin. People who upload while editing, or via the "add a photo" button in the sidebar, won't see the text as they add photos -- sannse http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb32675/wikia/images/e/e9/WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 21:50, July 12, 2011 (UTC)
Contributions on unknown wikis[edit source]
Hi Sannse. I was hoping you could answer a query I have. I've recently noticed over the last couple of days that a couple of wikis I've never, ever visted before (hell, I didn't even know they existed) have recorded contributions as being made by me. The two I've spotted, though I'm sure there are more, are The Epic of Star Wars Wiki and the Persian AC Wiki. Now, I recognise some of the that edit summaries that accompany the contributions because I wrote them on this wiki, so how they've appeared on these other wikis, I do not know.
This isn't a major issue, probably just a bug in the system, but I am curious for any answer you can provide. My thanks, in advance. --Jasca Ducato Council Chamber Assassination record 13:52, August 5, 2011 (UTC)
- I'm having the same issue as Jasca here. I have never visited the wiki, yet it say's I reverted two edits. (Here). --VatsaGentek 15:40, August 5, 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, that happens when someone uses Special:Export and Special:Import to copy pages from one wiki to another. It's part of the original software, rather than a Wikia thing - but you are likely to notice it here because of our cross-wiki contributions. I don't like how that feature works personally, seems to me it should somehow say in contributions and history that it's an imported edit... but it's a pretty deep core feature, so not sure if that's something we could ever change. Possibly the MediaWiki developers would consider it for a future version. -- sannse http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb32675/wikia/images/e/e9/WikiaStaff.png (help forum | blog) 23:21, August 8, 2011 (UTC)
Advisor program[edit source]
Hello Sannse, back in December you invited our community to join the advisor program. It has taken a while, but I have ascertained that our staff is actually quite interested in partaking in this. We actually used to have something similar on our wiki years ago and have thought about reviving it, but we would prefer to do so in line with Fandom if you guys have such a program. I noticed that your message noted that testing would be for two months, and it is now past two months, so I'm assuming that the testing phase is over? If so, please let us know if there is anything we could do to contribute to the future development of this program! :) Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 14:54, April 5, 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, good to hear from you.
- Unfortunately the advisor experiment didn't go as well as hoped. We found that most of the people who signed up for an advisor, didn't follow up after that. That said, some admins/communities were pleased with it on their wikis, so we left it working and available for anyone who wanted to continue using it. We may also try something similar in the future once the new platform is fully set up.
- In the mean time, you can just follow the instructions at w:c:dev:Advisor and it will work here. Let me know if you get stuck, I wrote the instructions so I may not have been clear enough :) -- Sannse <staff /> (help forum | blog) 16:33, April 6, 2020 (UTC)
