What were the photos uploaded by me deleted for? They were from a Youtube Press Conference available here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yit0Uj2plEM .
Since the source is verified, I believe there's no harm in keeping those images.

- Your definition of "verified" does not fit with our Images policy, I'm afraid. Specifically, the images were removed for being unsourced (which they are). They're also quite a poor quality, and from pre-release promotional material - something we try to avoid if we can at all. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 11:08, October 15, 2015 (UTC)
- So basically, if I arrange better images (which I will if it's ok) and source them, then can it be allowed? Because you cannot avoid pre-release material as far as an "upcoming" product is concerned.
- Jetfire343 (talk) 13:32, October 16, 2015 (UTC)
- There is a preference to not use screenshots from Youtube videos, yes, but seeing as the game itself isn't out yet, we've little alternatives. The images for Crawford Starrick and Lucy Thorne are also stills from youtube videos. If you source the images correctly (I left you a message a few days on your talkpage regarding the sourcing policy), then I don't see why we can't use them :) Crook The Constantine District 13:37, October 16, 2015 (UTC)
- We can avoid pre-release material for an upcoming product quite easily; don't upload it. Any pre-release material is subject to change, and should only ever really be uploaded if it is sufficiently high quality, or deliberately released by Ubisoft for the purposes of depicting a character (see here). Gameplay trailers are notoriously bad choices to pull any sort of information/images from, as they are almost never representative of actual in-game events. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 14:41, October 16, 2015 (UTC)
- I am torn between two divergent opinions. As for my reply to @Jasca Ducato, it's not actually a trailer. I've given the link above in my first message for showing what it actually is. It's a press event which shows actual gameplay footage. The answer to this final question is what decides my course of action. SInce it is a long video, I mention here that the images are from around 44 minutes into the video.
- As for @Crook - I did see your message, and have actually already arranged better photos. I wanted to know if there's a rule that absolutely prohibits press release screenshots.
- Jetfire343 (talk) 15:12, October 16, 2015 (UTC)
- As far as I'm aware, there isn't. Like I said, I don't mind a slightly lower-quality image if we don't have any better alternatives atm - it can always be replaced later. Your source is from a fairly recent build as well, so I don't see a problem with it. Crook The Constantine District 15:25, October 16, 2015 (UTC)
- Whether it's a trailer, or actual gameplay footage is irrelevant, since it's all pre-release and subsequently, it is subject to change. There have been plenty of gameplay trailers released that do not depict events that appear in-game (such as the AC3 fort infiltration gameplay trailer); people have, in the past, added the information from these trailers, despite the reservation of some contributors, only for it to be removed on release. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 15:26, October 16, 2015 (UTC)
- Alright, I'm going to throw my opinion out here. If we have no better quality image but we do have an image, then I don't see a reason to prevent it. As better quality images are found, they can be uploaded over the lower-quality ones, and we have image versioning to track in case someone downgrades an image's quality and we can revert it. I would rather have more information than less, so long as it is properly sourced. We can clean out the HUD and up the quality when we actually have a game with which to do so.
- The very guidelines section of the Image Policy states that all images must be sourced, which these were, and because they were of gameplay and being used, they constitute Fair Use. There is no statement in the Policy about a minimum quality or how the images were obtained. Jasca, when you have a better image, you can by all means replace Jet's to improve the Wiki. I don't believe that preventing use of gameplay information for reasons of "too low quality" before we have a better source is productive. I do not want to punish Jet for trying to contribute or to delay our ability to provide information. DarkFeather Raven's NestRaven's Hunt 15:38, October 16, 2015 (UTC)
- To that end, I think I can get a better shot off the video you posted, Jet. Want me to try? You also probably want to update your titles to be a little more explicit. DarkFeather Raven's NestRaven's Hunt 15:41, October 16, 2015 (UTC)
- @DarkFeather - Today's been very busy for me. Please give me time till 18th Oct. to get better images. I think that even though I have some images, I'll improve further on them, perhaps enhance sharpness or something similar and then upload. Otherwise you can upload equivalent ones.
- Also, I didn't clearly understand "update your tites to be a little more explicit." Do you mean image captions?
- Ah, we'd rather not have edited versions of footage from the game ^^; In that case, perhaps it's better if DarkFeather has a go at getting stills from the video with a slightly higher resolution.
- As for the titles, well, "Assassin's Creed Syndicate Gameplay Walkthrough Part 1 Let's Play YouTube Press Event 1080p HD.mp4 002641100.jpg" is not a very convenient name for an image. In future, name the image after what it's depicting, like "ACS Benjamin Disraeli in Carriage" or something in that vein :) Crook The Constantine District 16:17, October 16, 2015 (UTC)
- @Crook @DarkFeather - Uploaded better images. They're the best I can arrange. I've also named and captioned them better, as well as added a brief description. As for the technical, legal terminology regarding the licencing, I request one of you who knows it well to classify it accordingly.

- 'Aight, thanks Jetfire. Do use the Information template to source properly - I'll do it for you this time, so you can use that as an example when uploading images in the future :) Crook The Constantine District 20:13, October 16, 2015 (UTC)
A good trivia note: Disraeli is the first Jew (by birth, he converted later) British Prime Minister, and also the first Jewish character in the main series. 79.177.41.157 20:25, October 20, 2015 (UTC)
