The series was revealed to be in the early stages of development in October 2020. [[Ubisoft]] partnered with Netflix to produce three separate ''Assassin's Creed'' series, one being an [[Animated Assassin's Creed television series|animated]] program, the second being [[Assassin's Creed anime|anime]], and the final being a live-action production. Netflix's Vice President of Scripted Series Peter Friedlander expressed hope in the series, believing that the crew had "carefully crafted an epic adventure" that would attract both fans and general audiences.
