In reality, [[Qin Shi Huang]] himself was visiting the palace on the day of the mission and security was at an all time high. Two of the ''youxia'', [[Chu Huan]] and [[Wei Yu's disciple|his sworn sibling]] immediately noticed the discrepancy upon setting foot on the premises but proceeded with the mission anyways. They were shocked to see the Emperor and high-ranking officials like [[Zhao Gao]] and [[Meng Tian]] inside the palace but were able to avoid detection up until they acquired the treasure. When four guards entered the bedchamber and took them for assassins, the two were compelled to use lethal force to dispatch them, by which point, guards outside had been alerted to the cry of assassins. The ''youxia'' managed to escape with the help of their third companion, [[Yu Ying]], but the state had been alerted to their activities, and the Department of Immortality got the pretext they desired.<ref name="Youxia in the Palace" />
