The '''Veteran Breastplate''' was the [[breastplate]] of an old [[Pephka]]n man, who'd come to [[Messara]] to gather his deceased wife some flowers.

Understanding himself to be too weak to make the journey to the [[Summit of Mount Ida|top]] of [[Mount Ida]] where the red flowers grew, he asked the passing [[Sparta]]n ''[[Mercenary|misthios]]'' [[Kassandra]] to fetch them instead. Alas, before Kassandra made it back with the flowers, the old man died.
