In 1503, the [[Templars]] struggled to take power over the English court and were in constant battle against the [[Assassins]], including some sent over from [[Italy]] by [[Ezio Auditore]].<ref name="Brotherhood">''[[Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood]]'' – [[Contracts (Italian Brotherhood)|Contracts]]</ref> After the assassination of [[Margaret of York]], the Templars sought to ignite an uprising against Henry VII as a smokescreen for their true plot: to infiltrate the Star Chamber.<ref name="Project Legacy"/><ref name="Initiates"/>

The Assassins, knowing that if the court took aim at their allies, the damage would be great, decided to identify the Templars and remove them. Their mission began by questioning King Henry, who did not doubt any man on the council and advised the Assassins to cease investigating. Ignoring the king's request, they bribed some of his court, uncovering some rumors, followed and threatened the council members but to no avail. Only when two ambassadors from the [[House of Borgia|Borgia]] arrived from [[Rome]] and met with four elder members of the Star Chamber that the Assassins managed to uncover their identities, by ambushing the ambassador and stealing their letters, which they then turned over to Henry, letting him deal with his own men. As a show of appreciation for their assistance, Henry kept a seat open on the Chamber for a representative of the Brotherhood.<ref name="Project Legacy"/><ref name="Brotherhood"/><ref name="Initiates"/>
