==Purpose==
Signed in 1959 and enacted in 1961, the ATS has been ratified by 46 to 48 countries. On 4 September 2012, a news articles by the [[Abstergo News Wire]] was emailed to [[Warren Vidic]], the [[Animus Project]] head and subscriber to the news service. The article detailed the growing tensions mounting over the efforts of the [[United States]] and the {{Wiki|European Union}} drilling on the continent.
