'''Negoro-ji''' is a [[Buddhism|Buddhist]] [[temple]] in northeastern [[Kii]], [[Japan]]. Its temple grounds were designated a historical site and a place of scenic beauty in 2007.<ref name="Wiki">{{WP|Negoro-ji}}</ref>

==History==
In 1582, the [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] member and [[samurai]] [[Yasuke]] ventured towards the temple but heard of a commotion outside the guard post. There, he saved a ''[[Arquebus|teppō]]'' vendor from two rogue samurai and learned that [[Asari Nobutane]] bought from him and frequented the bamboo grove at Negoro-ji. Entering the grounds, Yasuke made his way towards the bamboo grove and came across Nobutane, who killed a challenger easily. Meeting with Nobutane, Yasuke asked for a duel, to which Nobutane agreed. With their ''teppōs'', Yasuke and Nobutane fought with each other until Yasuke bested him. Afterwards, Nobutane imparted his piece of wisdom of choosing one's path is all they have before gifting Yasuke a teppō [[Dark Burst]] and giving his regards to their mentor [[Kamiizumi Nobutsuna]].<ref name="Nobutsuna Students">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[Nobutsuna's Students]]</ref> 

While at there, Yasuke and his fellow Kakushiba ''ikki'' member [[Fujibayashi Naoe]] trespassed within the grounds, bypassing the quarters of the ''[[Ikkō-ikki]]'', and finding the ''Ikkō-ikki'' [[kamon]] crest at one of their warehouses for [[Ōta Gyūichi]].<ref name="A Collection of Crests">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' – [[A Collection of Crests]]</ref> Going towards the main temple, Naoe and Yasuke later recovered five lost pages scattered around the main temple's grounds. Naoe then climbed atop its pagoda and surveyed the surroundings. Naoe and Yasuke also established a ''[[Kakurega|kakurega]]'' in the vicinity.<ref name="ACSH">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]''</ref>
