The '''Myanmar Civil War''', also known as the '''Burmese Civil War''', '''Burmese Spring Revolution''' or '''People's Defensive War''', is an ongoing civil war in [[Myanmar]], between the ruling {{Wiki|State Administration Council}} and the exiled {{Wiki|National Unity Government of Myanmar|National Unity Government}}. It began in May 2021, three months after the {{Wiki|2021 Myanmar coup d'état|coup d'état}} which placed the country under military rule. The coup itself was the culmination of decades of armed conflicts across Myanmar, which began after the country gained its independence from the [[United Kingdom]] in 1948.<ref name="Wiki">{{WP|Myanmar civil war (2021–present)|Myanmar Civil War}}</ref>
