In January 1842, after uprisings in the city of Kabul, the [[British Army]] reached agreements with Afghan leader [[Akbar Khan]] for safe passage for their [[1842 retreat from Kabul|retreat]] to Jalalabad. Khan betrayed them and, of the sixteen thousand people that set out on the march, only three ever made it to Jalalabad: {{Wiki|William Brydon}}, [[Cavanagh]] and [[Walter Lavelle]].<ref name="Chapter 20"/> On 7 April 1842, the British garrison at Jalalabad attacked Akbar Khan's lines, where Cavanagh proved himself indomitable in combat.<ref name="Chapter 22">''[[Assassin's Creed: Underworld]]'' – Chapter 22</ref>
