The '''Hope Diamond''', also called the '''French Blue''' (''Le bleu de [[France]]''), is a [[Piece of Eden]] in the form of a [[diamond]]. With unknown powers and abilities, the diamond is said to carry a curse that leads its wearers to an early, violent death. First recorded owner of the gem was jeweler [[Jean-Baptiste Tavernier]], who sold it to King [[Louis XIV of France]] in 1668. In 1792, during the French Revolution, the diamond was stolen from the royal treasury, alongside other [[French Crown Jewels]]. In the days following the theft, the diamond was included in an auction organized by [[Jean le Chien]] at ''[[La Limace Noir]]'', where it attracked the attention of both [[Assassins]] and [[Templars]].
