'''Aletheia''' was a Greco-Roman [[Isu]] and the ''[[Dikastes]]'' of [[Atlantis]] around the time of the [[Human-Isu War]]. When Aletheia later suffered a grave injury, Loki, desperate to save his lover, transferred her consciousness into the [[Staff of Hermes Trismegistus|Staff]] of [[Hermes Trismegistus]]. From there, she would one day interact with the [[Kassandra|Keeper]] of the staff and help the Staff's [[Layla Hassan|heir]] in her journey. She also made numerous recordings on the [[Olympos Project]] and stored them in the [[Gateway to the Lost City]], a vault connected to [[Atlantis]]. In order to teach Kassandra how to use the staff, Aletheia also created several [[Aletheia's simulations|simulations]] based on the memories of her time as ''Dikastes'' of Atlantis.

During the [[Isu Era]], Aletheia served as the ''Dikastes'' of Atlantis, appointed by the city's ruler [[Poseidon]]. Some time later, the Isu waged a war with their Isu brethren in the city of [[Asgard]] in Scandinavia. During the conflict, Aletheia fell in love with Loki, an Isu who belonged to the [[Æsir]] group, with whom she mothered three children with: Fenrir, Hel and Jörmungandr.<ref name="Anomaly">''Assassin's Creed: Valhalla'' – [[Animus Anomalies]]</ref> She and Fenrir lived on [[Jötunheimr|the territory]] surrounding the [[Grand Temple]], in North America, and Loki would sometimes leave Asgard to be with them.<ref name="MistressOfTheIronWood">''Assassin's Creed: Valhalla'' – [[Mistress of the Iron Wood]]</ref> Apparently, the child displayed a mark that was somehow connected to the impending [[Great Catastrophe]], a sign that scared all Isu.<ref>''Assassin's Creed: Valhalla'' - [[Extended Family]]</ref> As such, Aletheia and Loki were forced to smuggle their son to Asgard with the help from [[the Builder]], who sought to kill [[Odin]], the Asgardian Isu leader.<ref>''Assassin's Creed: Valhalla'' - [[The Big Finish]]</ref>

Before Loki left for Asgard, Aletheia spoke to the [[Capitoline Triad]], [[Jupiter]], [[Juno]] and [[Minerva]], who had started to search for a method to save their people from the cataclysm. They assured her that their success was imminent, as they had started developing a [[Mead|Seventh Method]] of salvation. She told Loki about the meeting, but he was not convinced since they had already failed six times before.<ref name="Anomaly" />

One day, she was hassled by Juno, who was trying to convince her to join her side and to help her prevent the humans from inheriting the world, to which Aletheia responded that she was underestimating the humans, they would outlive their creators following the catastrophe. Suddenly, the Isu Odin, who was searching for a way to survive the disaster, entered her abode, searching for her. Having heard rumors about the new method, he questioned the two women. Juno immediately told him about their experiment. As she had learnt from Loki that Odin had imprisoned their child,<ref>''Assassin's Creed: Valhalla'' – [[Extended Family]]</ref> and seeing an opportunity to learn about Asgard's defenses, she drove Juno away and tricked Odin into subject himself to a truth device. As Odin was weakened by it, Loki reveled himself and demanded to know what he would do to Fenrir. Odin was honest and told them that he intended to keep their son imprisoned until the Catastrophe struck the Earth. Satisfied with the answers, Aletheia incapacitated him and the two Isu hung Odin from a tree.<ref name="MistressOfTheIronWood"/> Unknowingly to her, Odin, with the help of Juno, would steal the Mead from the Grand Temple and use it to build the [[Yggdrasil|Yggdrasil Chamber]], that would upload the DNA of the Asgardian Isu and, millennia later, reincarnate them in humans.<ref name=":0">''Assassin's Creed: Valhalla'' – [[The Price of Wisdom]]</ref>

Time passed and Odin, fulfilling his statement, locked away Fenrir definitely. Angered by Odin's acts, Loki talked to Aletheia about the situation. She reprimanded him, as he should have been more careful transporting Fenrir to Asgard. Desperate, Loki pondered about going public with their son's imprisonment. Aletheia attempted to calm him down, worried for their other childrens' safety if Loki's wife [[Sigyn]] found out about their affair, but Loki, determined to do something, left the conversation. Shortly after, Loki returned to her, having killed Mad One's child [[Baldr]], poisoning him with mistletoe. Aletheia was worried of the possibility that he could've been seen by someone but he just laugh. It didn't last long for Odin to find out the killer of his son and soon his soldiers were at their door. Aletheia warned Loki about them but he wasn't afraid as he would appeal to the [[High Council]] and tell them about Odin's crimes.<ref name="Anomaly" />

Aletheia contacted Loki again, who had rid himself from the courts, with news from the High Council. Apparently, they had discovered that Juno had aided Odin in the theft of the Mead,<ref name="Anomaly" /> so she could use a sample of it to immortalize her [[Aita|late husband]],<ref name=":0" /> and stripped her from her title of Mother of Wisdom, with Jupiter and Minerva imprisoning her consciousness within the Grand Temple. Having heard whispers from the effects of the Mead, she told him that it required a human host, so they could [[Sage|rebirth]] as one of them. He was surprised, even disgusted, but she said to him that it was a risk that they would be willing to take, if they were to survive their doom.<ref name="Anomaly" />

=== Cheating Death ===
As the Great Catastrophe approached and the time of the Isu started running short, Odin departed from Asgard to other lands to find a way to resurrect his son. Seeing this as a perfect opportunity to strike, Loki and Aletheia went to steal the Seventh Method from Odin's domains. Just before they could steal it, Aletheia became gravely injured. Concluding that it would be the only way for her to survive, Loki transferred her consciousness into the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus. In the day the cataclysm reached the Earth, using the [[calculations]] of the Staff, she planned a way to one day be reunited with him, as he would infiltrate Odin's scret hall and use the Yggdrasil to reincarnate in a human while she would wait in silence in the Staff. They bid farewell, as Loki returned the Staff to Hermes and then left to the Yggdrasil Chamber.<ref name="Anomaly" />

===Helping the Keeper===

Around 422 BCE, a projection of Aletheia summoned the [[Sparta]]n ''[[Mercenary|misthios]]'' [[Kassandra]], now the owner of the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus, to the [[Island of Triton|Island]] of [[Triton]]. There, Aletheia introduced herself to Kassandra, asking her to pledge herself as the "Heir of Memories". She then told Kassandra to find [[Theras]], in order for the Heir to continue her journey.<ref name="HoM" />

===Aiding the Heir of Memories===
After finding Theras, Kassandra was sent to [[Agamemnon's Tomb|find]] [[Tomb of Eteokles|three]] [[Tomb of Orion|tombs]]. Aletheia appeared at the entrance of each, in order that Layla, acting as the Heir of Memories, would be able to unlock the gate to Atlantis. During Layla's exploration of three tombs, Aletheia revealed that she had a consciousness kept within the Staff, able to communicate with Layla and listen to frequencies, speaking of a currently unidentified male "interloper" who was interfering with the communications frequency between the Altair II and Layla.<ref name="HoM" />

After the gate to Atlantis was unlocked, Aletheia appeared as a projection to Layla, and later to Victoria Bibeau, instructing that Layla synchronise with Kassandra's experience of Aletheia's custom built simulations in order to unlock the full potential of the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus.<ref name="ACOD">''Assassin's Creed: Odyssey - [[The Fate of Atlantis: Fields of Elysium]]'' – [[21st century conversations|Modern Day]]</ref>

When three members of [[Sigma Team]] attacked, Layla remarked that Aletheia had turned tail, and as such is nowhere to be found after the attack.<ref name="ACOD" />

Aletheia eventually resurfaced to let Layla continue with the trials until Victoria interrupted, fearing for Layla's destabilizing vitals. Aletheia witnessed a [[Bleeding Effect]]-crazed Layla strike Victoria dead with the Staff's power, to which caused her to regret choosing Layla as the Heir of Memories.<ref>''Assassin's Creed: Odyssey - [[The Fate of Atlantis: Torment of Hades]]'' - [[21st century conversations|Modern Day]]</ref>

Aletheia reluctantly agreed to let Layla conclude the final trial, but followed her into the simulation supervise her actions. Upon completion, Alethiea returned Kassandra from the simulation and congratulated her. ===Reunion with Loki===
In 2020 Layla Hassan had brought the Staff to the Yggdrasil chamber where the dorment body of [[Basim Ibn Ishaq]] still layed. Having fufilled the plan Loki and Aletheia had planned long ago she dropped the staff on the floor. Basim's body was dropped onto the staff and revived. After being silent for so long Aletheia once again spoke to her lover asking if their plan had gone as planned.<ref>''Assassin's Creed: Valhalla'' – [[21st century conversations|Modern Day]]</ref>

In 431 BCE, when Kassandra visited the [[Ancient Forge]] on the island of [[Andros]], Aletheia spoke to her, acting as the system voice for the Forge as it upgraded the [[Spear of Leonidas]].<ref name="Memories Awoken">''Assassin's Creed: Odyssey'' – [[Memories Awoken]]</ref>

Aletheia's recordings on the Olympos Project was later discovered by Kassandra, who traveled to the vault in search of her father, [[Pythagoras]].<ref name="TGoA" />

==Behind the scenes==
According to {{Wiki|Pindar}}'s ''{{Wiki|Pindar's First Olympian Ode|Olympian Ode}}'', Aletheia was the daughter of [[Zeus]], however according to [[Aesop]]'s ''[[Aesop's Fables|Fables]]'', she was crafted by [[Prometheus]].<ref name=":1">{{WP|Veritas}}</ref> Aletheia was also revered as the [[Greece|Greek]] goddess of truth, as was her [[Rome|Roman]] equivalent Veritas. Aletheia, [[wikt:ἀλήθεια|ἀλήθεια]], is [[Greece|Greek]] for 'not a lie, truth'.

The 'impression' of Aletheia on Layla's computer is similar to [[Martin Deschambault]]'s concept art of [[Minerva]].
