==Biography==
At some point before 873 CE, Egil was part of a Viking crew that also included [[Bragi (Viking)|Bragi]]. Once, on a raid in [[Courland]], they shored up along the edge of a forest and explored until they found a large farm. With the owners asleep, they set about plundering the place quietly, taking [[sheep]] and [[goat]]s until Egil saw a farm-hand, who he pressed for the family's hidden [[silver]]. They took both the silver and the boy back to the ship, but Egil grew sad that the family wouldn't know who robbed them.
