"'''Daitengu'''" (died 1582) was the name imposed on a [[Japan]]ese man who lived at [[Arima Onsen]] in [[Harima]] during the late [[Sengoku period]]. Deluding himself to be the incarnation of the "Daitengu", he attacked and killed any wanderers who came pass him. His actions led many people to believe that there was the ''[[yōkai]]'' known as the Daitengu (大天狗, lit. 'greater tengu').<ref name="The Yokai">''[[Assassin's Creed: Shadows]]'' — [[The Yokai]]</ref>

==Biography==
The locals of Harima heard the shrills and screeches of a "red-faced" ''yōkai'' presiding in Arima Onsen, which led them to travel to the [[Scholar|monk]]-turned-demon hunter [[Mamushi]]. However, Mamushi was fed up with answering these rumors as they mainly concluded to be exaggerations of people's imaginations.<ref name="The Yokai"/> 

In 1582, fortunately, Mamushi met the [[Japanese Brotherhood of Assassins|Kakushiba ''ikki'']] members [[Fujibayashi Naoe]] and [[Yasuke]] and asked them to investigate all this ''yōkai'' claim. During their investigation in Harima, they arrived at the onsen and discovered the "daitengu" surrounded by unlucky corpses. Confronting the man, they fought and promptly killed him. Ending his unusual terror, they then acquired the ''[[katana]]'' [[Daitengu's Feather]] from his personal effects.<ref name="The Yokai"/>
