In the 870s, Cynewise was ridiculed by the community's children, due to her being unwed at her age. At some point, she devised of a plan to attract a young red-haired neighbor, but to no avail. Luckily, the [[Vikings|Viking]] [[shieldmaiden]] [[Eivor Varinsdottir]] came by and met with Cynewise. There, she lied to Eivor, who helped kidnap the young man. However, after bringing the man to Cynewise, she soon revealed her true intentions to him and Eivor. Despite the deceit, the man became infatuated with her act as Cynewise thanked Eivor for her help.
